The New Honda Insight

First of all, if you take a look at the pictures of the new Honda Insight on the stand in Detroit, one thing stands out: it looks just like a Prius. Same short, sloped nose, same little wheels, same chunky back. Part of that is due to the aerodynamics necessary to get high fuel economy in a hybrid, but part of it is probably a little Prius piggy-backing, as well. In order to sell a lot of Insights, you have to aim for the familiar.

Honda hasn’t announced an official price for its hybrid, but it keeps saying it will be cheaper than the Prius. The new Prius doesn’t have an MSRP yet, either, but we can expect both of the cars to be somewhere slightly north of $20,000.

2010 Ford Fusion

Ford Motor Company shocked the Pennsylvania-area Drumm family with a brand new 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid sedan.

In addition to donating the Fusion Hybrid, Ford also contribued to the makeover by affixing energy-saving solar panels to the roof of the new home, helping to reduce the home's energy consumption, energy costs, and environmental footprint.

With its Escape Hybrid, Mariner Hybrid, and new 2010 Fusion Hybrid, Ford is now the the largest domestic producer of full hybrid vehicles in North America.

Chrysler Is Pairing Up With Fiat

Chrysler has seen its share of tough times. First it was bought by German company Daimler, after falling behind its competitors GM and Ford. Then the Daimler-Chrysler relationship disintegrated and Daimler sold Chrysler to a holding company. Chrysler already filed Chapter 11 once, and there was recent talk of a second bankruptcy.

However, with the auto bailout package passed and Chrysler receiving essential loan money, it’s determined to turn around and regain an advantage on its publicly owned domestic competitors GM and Ford. Today it announced a big new partnership that will take many by surprise. Chrysler is pairing up with Fiat.

But a tie-up also could be a huge winner for Fiat, which has been angling to get its phenomenally popular 500 model, as well as the stylish Alfa Romeo luxury brand, to American consumers for years. Chrysler's infrastructure could allow the Italian company to do that on the cheap.

All-New 2010 Toyota Prius

Toyota Motor Sales USA has unveiled the all-new 2010 Prius hybrid vehicle at the 2009 North American International Auto Show.

The all-new 2010 Prius is powered by a larger and more powerful 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine producing 98HP at 5,200rpm and 105lb-ft of torque at 4,000rpm.

The 2010 Prius grows 0.6 inches longer and 0.8 inches wider than the previous model. Toyota promises increased cargo space in the hatchback because of a redesigned cooling system for the hybrid's batteries. Rear legroom increases slightly because of redesigned front seatbacks.

In addition to its hybrid system, the Prius adds new features including adaptive cruise control and a lane-departure warning system.

Power comes from a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor.

Audi Sportback Concept Revealed At Detroit Auto Show

If your heading out to the Detroit Auto show there is one concept that you must see and it is by Audi. It known as the Audi Sportback Concept and this very car hints to the future of Audi’s new A7 four-door saloon.
According to our source at Audi, the Sportback is in fact larger than the A6, and it is built on Audi's new modular longitudinal build kit (LBK), which is adjustable for length, width, and height depending on packaging needs. The same chassis setup will likely form the basis for future larger Audis, including the production version of the Sportback which is expected to be dubbed A7.
