Volvo's Nissan Diesel Now Become UD Trucks
Volvo said today its Japanese subsidiary Nissan Diesel Motor Co Ltd will be renamed UD Trucks Corp on 1 February 2010.
Subsequently, the Nissan Diesel brand will also change its name to UD Trucks and a new logotype will be developed.
The company, which was established in 1935 under the name Nihon Diesel Industries, has previously sold its trucks under the brand UD, abbreviated from Ultimate Dependability.
Nissan Diesel had a share of some 25% in the heavy trucks market in Japan in 2009.
